over the past week, as i have watched with disgust as our executive branch
and the loyalist corporate media conspire to ramrod the stunned American
people into widescale war, i have been very concerned with trying to find
good alternative media sources, particularly on the web. i feel I've
found some good resources, and i'd like to share them and ask you all to
share anything you find useful as well. it seems clear that the only way
for anything good to come out of all this, whether war is justified or
not, is for an unprecedented grassroots sharing of information over the
internet to supercede the mainstream media.

* general news sites:

  www.alternewswire.com
  www.alternet.org
  www.buzzflash.com
  www.indymedia.org

* analysis, commentary & media criticism:

  www.counterpunch.org
  www.public-i.net
  www.antiwar.com
  www.fair.org
www.fpif.org (progressive think tank. good analysis)
  www.guerrillanews.com

* conspiracy-oriented (don't ignore what mainstream liberal intellectuals
& the media dismiss as 'conspiracy theory'; in the past year or two I've
started to do my own dilligent fact-checking, and i'm shocked at how
much truth underlies what some of those people are saying)

www.almartinraw.com (from an ex-Iran-Contra insider... some excellent dirt on our govt. mafia)
www.rense.com (this one is all over the map, but useful to survey. beware, though)
www.disinfo.com (popular site, but temporarily down after the disaster)
  www.whatreallyhappened.com
www.skolnicksreport.com/pkem.html (wait for proof on this one...)

* conservative & right wing (yes, you heard me right. Although my views
are very progressive, I've found recently that there are some really
worthwhile facts and opinions among the antiestablishment 'true
conservatives' or 'libertarian right', as opposed to the
  pro-establishment, pro-Bush Limbaugh style neo-cons. keep a thick skin
against random knee-jerk prejudice and backcountry paranoia, and you may
find some gems. The traditional 'left' and 'right' have both been
twisted into the service of the elite to some extent... it's time to
  make new connections).

forum.samfrancis.net/Forum6/HTML/000100.html (an excellent anti-Clinton thread, must read)
www.williamcooper.com (scroll down for provocative questions about the previous WTC bombing)
www.apfn.org (this one can get gross, but look for the anti-war statements in the message boards)

* partisan viewpoints:

  www.washtimes.com/op-ed/

the washinton times editorial page is said to be a very close mirror of
Bush administration foreign policy. good to keep tabs on... btw, it was
founded by Reverend Moon, who happens to be a good friend of the Bush
  family!

bonus: past CIA involvement at CNN -- www.counterpunch.org/cnnpsyops.html
