Didn't they already prove that the much touted facial recognition stuff
that they tried to deploy after 911 was a total failure? So given that
this says it works it means that either England has better tech then we
do or the populace doesn't complain as much about false matches.

A NETWORK of roadside cameras that can recognise disqualified motorists and
track criminals on the run is the future of crime-fighting, MPs were told
yesterday.
The cameras will feed a stream of digital images of passing drivers to a
central computer which knows the features of every wanted person in the
country, Richard Brunstrom, the Chief Constable of North Wales, said.
The anti-terrorist technology will notify police about the movements of
wanted men within seconds, he said.
The web of thousands of facial recognition cameras across Britain could
also be used to catch people driving without a licence, insurance or road
tax. Mr Brunstrom, chairman of the Association of Chief Police Officers
road policing enforcement technology committee, told the Commons Transport
Select Committee, that, after research, he expected the cameras to be in
operation in five years.
Police prosecuted 50,000 motorists last year for driving while banned but
believe many more escape undetected.
