a workmate just pointed me at a book called "a frightening fraud" by
frenchman thierry meyssan.

i've only just started to research it but apparently he's quite a well
respected academic who claims that a group of politically influential
americans were behind some of the 9-11 attacks.

"The Frightening Fraud, by Thierry Meyssan, focuses on the effects at
the crash site being incompatible with the damage that would have been
caused upon the 757-200 of American Airline’s flying into the famous
military headquarters. The book offers the alternative explanation
that the damage was actually caused by “a group of people who had
authorised access to the Pentagon” - their target being the new Navy
Command Center. However M. Meyssan, who is also head of the leftwing
thinktank “the Voltaire Network”, does not offer any explanations of
what actually happened to flight 77 if it didn’t crash into the
   world’s largest building"

i'm curious if anyone out there knows more about this? the links i've
found so far are:

the home page of the book:

the "hunt the boeing" site apparently run by meyssan's son:

a fairly damning rebutal (which looses some credibility because of these
words "Note that I haven't read the book — I'm waiting for the movie"):
