sample letter that you can send to your local representative and  
instructions on how to find out who your representative is.

This is stupid, during a recession one of the few useful things people  
who find them selves under employed can do is *educate* themselves.   
Any assistance in making this easier/possible/real is a good thing.

Please, if this is important to you, take the time to get in touch  
with your representative!

Kia ora,
I am writing to you as you have attended a course at Wellington High  
School, either currently, or in the past.

As you may be aware, it was announced in last week's Budget that ALL  
adult community education funding to schools would stop from the end  
of this year.

This has huge implications for the "night class" programme we offer  
here at Wellington High School and for the groups that we fund in the  
community.  At this stage, if these cuts go ahead, our programme may  
have to close completely or the courses will have to be considerably  
more expensive to cover all costs.

Schools across the country have decided to fight this removal of all  
funding and we are asking you for your support.  If the Government  
receives enough feedback from people who enjoy the benefits of  
affordable, on-going education, we may be able to convince them to  
review their decision and continue to subsidise this very cost- 
effective way of ensuring New Zealanders have access to life-long  
learning.

Attached is more background to this issue and a list of suggestions of  
things you might do.

We thank you for your support and hope that together we can make a  
difference.
